Are you looking for a government job in the railways? If yes, then you have a golden opportunity to apply for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) in Indian Railways. The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released a Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 01/2024 for the recruitment of ALP in various zones of Indian Railways. The online application process has started from 20.01.2024 and will end on 19.02.2024. The total number of vacancies for the post of ALP is 5696.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the post of ALP, you must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Educational Qualification: You must have passed 10th class or equivalent examination with ITI certificate in relevant trade or Diploma in Engineering from a recognized institute.
- Age Limit: You must be between 18 to 30 years of age as on 01.07.2024. Age relaxation is applicable as per government rules for reserved categories.
- Medical Standard: You must have A-1 medical standard as prescribed by the RRBs.
Selection Process
The selection process for the post of ALP consists of the following stages:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): The CBT will have two parts – Part A and Part B. Part A will have 100 questions of 90 minutes duration, covering General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering, and Relevant Trade. Part B will have 75 questions of 60 minutes duration, covering the syllabus of the relevant trade. The minimum qualifying marks for Part A is 40% for UR, 30% for OBC and SC, and 25% for ST. The minimum qualifying marks for Part B is 35% for all categories. The candidates who qualify Part A and Part B will be shortlisted for the next stage.
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): The CBAT will have five test batteries, measuring the aptitude of the candidates for the post of ALP. The candidates have to secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each test battery. There is no negative marking in CBAT. The candidates who qualify CBAT will be called for the document verification.
- Document Verification: The candidates who qualify CBAT will have to produce their original documents and certificates for verification by the RRBs. The candidates who clear the document verification will be empanelled for the post of ALP.
How to Apply
To apply for the post of ALP, you have to follow these steps:
- Visit the official website of the RRB of your choice from the list given in Annexure A of the CEN.
- Click on the link for CEN No. 01/2024 and read the detailed notification carefully.
- Click on the link for online application and register yourself by providing your basic details.
- Fill up the online application form with your personal, educational, and contact details.
- Upload your scanned photograph, signature, and other documents as per the specifications given in the CEN.
- Pay the application fee of Rs. 500 (Rs. 250 for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwD/Female/Transgender/Minorities/Economically Backward Class) through online mode or offline mode (SBI Challan or Post Office Challan).
- Submit the online application form and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.
